School... and a scholarship!

This week has been pretty good for school. Being a Communications Major is a win or lose situation. Either your first week of school is easy, and progressively gets harder... or its easy for the whole semester, or it just starts hard and never gets easier. SO FAR it has been easy, some minor assignments like tweaking my Resume, meeting people in class, doing a PR news release... so far so good. I would not mind if it got a little bit more challenging, but not for this next week (which is rush and super busy). I know that it will be okay, but I am taking some harder classes, and I just need to manage my time wisely. I have done it many times before! I of course am awaiting two more books out of the three I bought online, which totally saves me $200 from the bookstore. I have promoted the bookstore before but not for the texts... I had to do this for a project, but ya know it is a good place, just sometimes you do not want to pay $100 for a USED book! Blech.

These are the courses I am taking:

• Nutiriton at 8am with Schmidt on MWF
• Thinking and Listening Critically with Treanor at 10 am MWF
• Communication Studies with Stein at 1pm on MWF
• Technical Writing with Treanor at 2pm on MWF
• Public Relation Writing with Ben Wyeth on TR

This is my second time taking Communication Research but I am taking it from a different professor so we will hopefully pass so next semester I can do my thesis AHHHHH! Next semester I am going to be a SENIOR! Oh man time has gone by quickly! 

Can I just say I am so grateful for Chick-fil-a? I GOT MY SCHOLARSHIP!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!! BUDDY!!!! It is for $1000 dollars and I am going to be published in a paper (I think Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune) so I will link that here when it happens. I also have the opportunity to receive the Truett Cathy Scholarship of an additional $1000!! SO I will keep everyone posted! 

ALSO on Monday I have a job interview. I will give more details about how that goes, and the description of the job. NO WORRIES :D 

Okay I am going to go celebrate by getting ready and then go window shopping lol! :)

Lazy Saturday!

So this week has pretty much been well... tiresome! We have had polish week for rush. It has been a great adventure to learn and grow in our way of recruitment, I loved seeing the girls after a long 3 months of not seeing everyone. This picture above is of me and Cassy and Maygen and I on the service day where we helped the froshies (freshmen) move into the dorms. We got these epically green shirts, and got to design them. Mine one ugliest shirt of the day. Well we did not have a contest for this, but had we, I would have won that. We got to go to the different dorms and well... help them move in. Just like it sounds!

Today has just been pretty much lazy for Maygen and I! I just love living with her! She is just so sweet and lovable! The two of us just ate some breakfast and watched the good old Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. We felt like we were in elementary all over again! Then we got to grocery shopping and get some more food cause we felt like we were living off of cereal (or carrots for Maygen :])and then the free lunches from polish week, and then frozen dinner meals. Then we came home and pretty much watched TV all day and now we are just kinda getting ready to go paint signs for RUSH week! I feel even though we are lazy like no other, we feel it has been a pretty nice way to end the summer right. 

Our other roommates are pretty neat. One is Paige and she is 20 and she is a cute girl, she moved in two days ago. The other is Kim and she is 24 and she is a sweet girl. We (Maygen excluded) are all loud. Maygen is sure quiet. BUT she cannot help but love it! I feel we are all getting a long too well cause I have always had a stupid roommate but I love this not having a stupid one... yet. All of us except Maygen are LDS, so tomorrow we get to check out the ward. AND for the first time in like 2 years worth of singles/student wards, I have a time that is NOT 1 or 9 am! I have THE perfect time: 11-2! I am so excited! 

Anyway I feel this year is going to have some changes about. I am just not sure. I just feel like something good has to come personally this semester since last semester was kinda not the best personally. So we will see!

Back to Cedar!

I have eight days to blog about my week of summer in Cedar before school begins! So I am going to make it worth my time.
We got into Cedar and checked in and have all my stuff moved in.
BAD NOTE: I cannot arrange my room and unpack till the carpet guys get here and shampoo the carpets!
GOOD NOTE: Clean carpets, great roommie and excited times to meet the other two!
Tomorrow: Carpets, arrangement, movie, dinner, sleep.
Monday: Planning on Job hunting all friggen day!
Tuesday: begins polish week.

EUREKA! My craft project tis complete!

Ok so my AOE board that my big made me needed revamping it. revert to original post. Well last night I FINISHED IT! Okay so I forgot to take a picture of it before. But here is one with the letters on the top off and the stars:

I remade the magnets. I just used some of the paper from that original post and I put some of those bead rock things and clear glue and glued it on! Easy as cake!
Next it was time to decide on the length and amount of paper used.

So I was going to do the left side, but it was just going to take too much time, so I did the right side and I liked that better. I mean you cannot really tell just from looking at it this way. But after I cut the strips to be the correct length and width and I modge podged and then slapped the paper on and then did the overlay of the modge podge... well....
THIS IS IT!!! I LOVE IT!!! SOOOO....

I am super happy with it and my craftiness. I really wanted to do it with my sister in law but I needed to get it done before I left, and I am working all day today and tomorrow is dedicated to packing and I am only doing one fun thing and that is lunch with Alex. So anyway I am going to go clean my car so I can start putting things in it! Until next time!

This may be my last summer post... depending.

So I know I still have about one and a half more weeks left of "summer" but my summer ends when I go back to Cedar and begin the process of getting in the swing of things. I move back on Friday and I am excited but its always bittersweet. I love being home and spending all this time with my family! But then there are times when you just want to get away. But now I look back at all the goals of the summer and here are somethings that I have accomplished:

• I got my 4.0 and that was a great way to start out my summer! 
• I started back at Chick-fil-a and possibly may have gotten my scholarship. *here is me crossing my fingers*
• I saw all of the summer movies except for Iron man 2 which is totally ok! 
• I lost weight and got into Zumba!
• I got into a tankini which I did not look so good in before!
• I hung out with the Alum of Alpha Phi which is always amazing!
• We got new uniforms which I do not think has happened in a LONG time for Chick-fil-a
• I have almost completed my summer craft project (which all I need to do now is modge podge and the task is complete!)
• I read 5 books that were so amazing! (I know this is not as many as intended but I am still working on them, I did not have a summer reading bucket list, just a yearly one so I am getting there)
• I went to a lot of weddings (Leslie, Michelle, and others)
• I celebrated Independence day very nicely!
• Ashton got married WOO WOO yay! 
• I went to SAN DIEGO which was super duper fun! 
• I went to Cedar!
• I got new shoes and clothes!
• I also got to get some financial aid! 
• And lots of other things! 

So I still have a couple days to make some things great! I feel this has been a productive summer. It may not have been the most adventurous and lack of summer love, but I did what I had to and I did what I wanted! There were LOTS of high points and I am very happy with the way things went! Now School year 2010-2011 has lots of open opportunities! Lets see how this rolls!

I love that I can get financial aid but there are so many hoops to go through! I have to A) fill out the FAFSA. B) Sign a thing to the school. C) Sign my MPN D) Take loan counseling. E) Accept the award F) Find out the amount is not the amount you expected pell grant wise... then G) Accept your full loan H) Sign another MPN I) Wallow in your debt to the government. 

Now I know the USA has a pretty decent government system, I am not hating on it at all. I just wish that I was not so in debt to the government. They say that my education is an investment. Lets hope so.

Okay I am done venting!

SIX DAYS TILL I MOVE BACK TO CEDAR!!

Cedar Trips, Statue Lovin, and Pink Sexy Heels

OK! So this past weekend my friend Maygen who is in Alpha Phi with me and roommate for this upcoming year and I went to Cedar City. We took some fun pictures! Well we went down on Friday to look for jobs, financial aid, and we also had an initiation for a new girl, Heidi who is so cute! Friday night we went to Garden house after the initiation and then Maygen and I rented the Runaways... there is no point to that movie. Kristen Stewart kisses Dakota Fanning and Dakota does drugs. Of course they are portraying the Runaways... but I did not like it. Not a reccomendation. We Stayed at Kady's house (the kinda Alpha Phi house... not official, but should be).
Then Saturday we went to breakfast at Dennys and then we met with Steph, her friend, Cassy and her boy. It was fun! Then we went shopping a bit, then we went and bumed around Wally World (Wal*mart) we decided to go see Charlie St. Cloud... I reccomend THAT one! Then we went to get Wingers and then went back and watched another redbox... Rachel Getting Married.... Anne Hathaway... why did you waste your talent on that film?!?!?!?!?! So not a reccomendation! Not at all!
Then on Sunday we left. It was fun, it made us so ready to move. Not that there is anything wrong with our families, its just we are so used to being on our own.
Then Today I went shopping with my mom and went to the Chicken to get my scholarship in order, I should get it... cause I took a shift tonight and hopefully another one or two and I should be golden!
When I went shopping I went into forever young shoes.... and it was like heaven spotted these shoes.... and they were on sale (only 20 bucks!!!!) and they fit, and were comfty and it was a match made in paradise!!!

I know that this picture does not do them justice but they are HOT pink!!!! And they are TALL! And I can wear them with dresses, pin attire, pants, jeans, even naked if I wanted too... but no I won't be naked! Oh man alive they are heaven sent! I just love them!!! I cannot stop staring! They were needed after countless failures of clothing trying on! They are God's gift to women.... because shoes will always fit... clothes will not! 
Anyway I am going to post a smilebox with all of my pics from the weekend and I hope you enjoy them! Oh and some of them are from Priest Birthday party and one is from a day at the mall with Megan my old roommie. Slide show will specify!
